I wonder why HOAs are so common place in MASTER-planned communities?

hmm

thinking-woke.gif
you joking but actually, 80% of new homes built are in HOA's compared to only 30% of existing homes.

who is more likely to inherit an old home. white folks.
So this HOA growth is likely affect black people average more than white folks i would suspect. definitely affect younger people more than older ones.
Probably the reason it is expanding unchecked. Its not really a problem until rich white people start getting hurt by it.

When I was doing mortgages I had a client in D.C. tryna refinance her townhome and payoff hella debt. Older black lady with an outdated rate at high ass mtg + 40-50k in CC debt. I couldn’t qualify save her damn near $3k-$4k a month, she was DROWNING :mjcry:

Anyways, she had like $800k in equity but I couldn’t qualify her cuz she was living off SSI and a lil retirement.

What was getting in the way? Her fukkin HOA was $2k/month and she was behind on it as well :francis:

It was sad I couldn’t help her.

$2k a month is outrageous for HOA fees per month lord have mercy

The origins of HOAs stem back to deed restrictions and the like. Folks don't like to talk about that, just like they don't notice how draconian penalties for crimes are in Southern States vs the East, Midwest, and West. That ain't random, it's an act of history...but don't lemme bring up America's living racist past and present...

That said, IMO, HOA abuse has moved well past keeping the coloreds out.

White people hate other white people, and this type of "white on white" petty crime and bullying is rampant and often has little do with us.

Lowkey this is some Alexander DeTocqueville type stuff, Hobbes and Locke - getting at the nature of man, rules, fairness, justice and order.

What happens when you give power to people who "just want to keep their property values high"....

She sounds like a bad neighbor. Why didn’t she go to her court appearance?

I have a HOA, but it's only $200 a year and it's for maintenance for a nearby park. I could let my grass grow as long as I want and I can paint my house whatever color I like and I can leave an abandoned car on my driveway.

Has anyone here ever heard of these types of HOA? where it's only for maintenance for a park.

u can try to justify it, but I have 3 different parks/playgrounds none further than 3 blocks away, and I don't have to shell out an extra fee for for my family members to use it.

like I said, your property taxes should be covering that stuff.

I would never buy a house with a HOA, especially not in Florida. Too many horror stories. Thing is, u signed up for it :yeshrug:

You almost have to have a professional lawn care service stop by every other week if your gonna live in a HOA, either that or someone needs to be the dedicated landscaper. Also, her house was being closely watched when they weren't aware, getting fined for tiny little dings on a garage door. That would drive me crazy, communities like this in Florida are targets for home invasions and people quite often get set up by neighbors (or relatives of the hired landscapers)

Prolly the same reason that the grass was brown, NO MAN IN THE HOUSE...

But this ain't my fight
There was a man in the house along with 2 younger ones. I had the same thought when I seen him, why is he not taking care of the yard with his two proteges? What are they doing? She's the homeowner.

But u right. Not my fight :mjlol:
