To think blacks spent hundreds of years as slaves is some very demoralizing thought to ponder upon. Like not 5, 10, 50, 100. Not 150. Gadamn. Like. If enough black folks back then committed suicide I wonder how much quicker slavery could have ended.

Indeed. Never thought of that but a mass suicide event after 1806 would have effectively ended it since they couldn’t import slaves by law.
I have no evidence to back this up and didn’t bother to research it, but I imagine at that point in slavery so many adopted Christianity that mass suicide wasn’t an option for many.
Probably early on when African religion and traditions dominated, suicide wasn’t as taboo and was more common

Millions lived and died as slaves. Probably hundreds of thousands killed outright by their cac enslavers in some way or form. Not including structural deaths due to malnutrition, overwork, depression

The black American history is one of many good reasons to never wait on some benevolent savior from the sky to come save you. Cuz 250 plus years of pure terror is just too much for any god to have sanctioned.
There was actually hundreds of revolts, the narrative that c00ns (not talking about you) push that the slaves were just docile and accepted it isn’t really true. Part of the reason there was a push to end slavery was because CACs realized it was getting dangerous to own slaves.

Yep. And the Haitian Revolution was the nail in the coffin. Cause the two states with the most rebellions were Virginia and Louisiana
