Never seen a fist class passenger told to gate check a bag. Unless he showed up at the last minute. Damn just gate check it and call it a day.

100% sure he showed up after everyone else boarded and that’s why the bins were full. First class never has to check the carry on if they are there on time because the bins are all empty when they board.
