I don’t gamble, but it’s obvious they targeting us, since we’re a poor and desperate group.![]()
I'm afraid of what'll happen in the future when it's ingrained even further. It's a lot like the lottery, except far worse. They'll hunt underprivileged communities with promises of a way out. People who don't have the money to spend will throw it all away and fall further into debt.
It’s over breh. Sports gambling has a choke hold on everybody no matter race or gender. It’s only gonna get worse too. The money is endless so they can pay anyone to promote it. Be prepared and monitor people close to you cuz I’ve seen some folks really get down bad off sports betting addictions.
It's capitalism at its worst, just pure money extraction from the poor/middle-class to the rich, using pyschological incentives and addictions. The house always wins. Then they go crazy with the advertizing to make it even worse.
Kiese Laymon in Heavy really goes into depth how gambling addiction caused generational harm to his family. His mom was brilliant, educated, and hard-working, but his entire upbringing got fukked up cause they never had the money they needed due to her gambling addiction, then he caught on and started fukking up with the addiction himself.
Sports gambling is even worse than what he was talking about, cause you used to have to drive way out of your way to casinos to get your fix, but now it's easier than ever to do from the comfort of your home. Parlays are especially bad because they trigger so many psych mechanisms that make you feel like a winner (watching the first three hit only to lose on the fourth), and the average person can't intuitively understand how unlikely it is to hit on all four, all six, whatever when it feels like each one is reasonable. They trick you into thinking over and over that you were so close when you really weren't.
