As Earth dies, African countries join forces to organize the first African space mission, convinced that other countries will abandon their continent.
The crew, from several African countries, must reach an exoplanet called Nardal. The team's mission is to ensure that the planet is habitable so that all Africans can be relocated there when Earth becomes uninhabitable.
African astronautics technology, led by UNIA, has a significant lead over the rest of the world thanks to a plant once thought to be extinct but rediscovered in Burundi. This plant produces propellant to power engines that enable spacecraft to reach faster-than-light speeds . Furthermore, UNIA maintains a secret space station with a crew member on board who has been responsible for its upkeep for years.
The trainees are five in number: Pierre Blé, a French fighter pilot of Ivorian origin who knows very little about Africa and its cultures, Abdel Souya, an Algerian Muslim botanist , Wangari Tamaï, Armand, Mariama N'Diaye, a telecommunications expert

The name of the planet Nardal is an allusion to Paulette Nardal , a Caribbean activist of the Negritude movement . The flag common to all members of the mission is the African-American Flag by African-American artist David Hammons . The name of one of the space station's modules, Batouala , is that of the novel by René Maran , a French writer of Guyanese origin who won the Prix Goncourt in 1921. The film's title, meanwhile, is an allusion to the Great Replacement theory.
