Haywood County Officials Respond To Viral Video
Haywood County, N.C. officials are speaking out after receiving threatening phone calls in response to a viral video of a Black truck driver who was attacked by several men at a local dump site known as TBD Landfill in Clyde, North Carolina.In a statement released Monday, the county clarified that the location “TBD landfill” is privately owned and is not affiliated with Haywood County Government, Solid Waste Management, the Town of Clyde, or any of their contractors such as Consolidated Waste Services or Republic Services.
Despite not being involved, officials said their Solid Waste facilities, staff, and contractors have received threatening phone calls following the video’s circulation.
“WE ENCOURAGE THE PUBLIC TO SEEK ACCURATE INFORMATION BEFORE RESPONDING TO A SITUATION,” THEY ADDED.
Wright Brothers Construction Flip-Flops on Statement
Adding to the confusion, Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc., initially claimed on Facebook page that the incident happened at one of their project sites. However, in a new statement released Sunday, the company is walking that back.Now, Wright Brothers says the incident did not occur on one of their project sites. Instead, they confirmed that only one individual present during the incident was their employee—and that he was onsite acting as a deputy sheriff

The company said they are actively investigating the incident to determine what role, if any, their employee played.
