Black Tusk Studios becomes The Coalition

Gears of War developer gets new name.


Black Tusk Studios, the Microsoft-owned developer heading the next Gears of War, has changed its name. It is now known as The Coalition.
According to Coalition studio boss Rod Fergusson, the new name represents the staff, as a coalition is “a team of diverse individuals working together for a common purpose.” It also plays into the lore of Gears of War with the series’ Coalition of Ordered Governments (COGs).
Fergusson also teased Gears of War will be at E3 this month, saying fans should tune into Microsoft’s “Xbox Daily: LIVE @ E3″ broadcast on Monday, June 15 at 4 p.m. PT “to see what we’re working on.” (This is after Microsoft’s press conference, which is at 9 a.m. PT.)

Hi everyone – I’m Rod Fergusson, former studio head of Black Tusk Studios.
It’s not what you think.
Beginning today, the Vancouver-based Xbox team working on the Gears of War franchise will be known as The Coalition. What’s in a name? In short, The Coalition speaks to who we are as a team, and what it is we’re working on.
A coalition is a team of diverse individuals working together for a common purpose, a concept that we feel describes our studio quite well.
Fans will also recognize the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) from Gears of War lore.
When people hear 343 Industries, they associate it with Halo; when they hear Turn 10 Studios, they know that’s who makes Forza. Moving forward, when you hear The Coalition, we want you to think of Gears of War.

Now while the possibility of the entire trilogy is still out there, I wouldn't be surprised really

Gears of War 3 Remaster for Xbox One Leaked on Official Website

Looks like we’re looking at a a serious epidemic of “can’t keep it in the pants” lately, so here is another E3 leak fresh from… Gears of War‘s official website.
The russian version of the site actually includes a listing of the new remaster of Gears of War 3 for Xbox One, slated for release on August 25th.
At the bottom of the post you can see a screenshot of the original and the translated version, that lists all the details of the game.
Looks like a great port, but we won’t have to wait until Microsoft’s E3 conference to know about it. And I just wrote that Microsoft was good at keeping things under wraps too… I take that back. Or maybe I just jinxed them.
Who is next?

If all the teasing was not enough to tell you that something big is coming for Gears of War, Microsoft just launched a brand new website for the franchise.
Here’s what you can expect, directly from the new site:

• All new Forums are live! They’ve got a new look, but all the same great content you’ve grown to love.
• Check out your Gears stats. If you’ve ever played the games, you can check out how you stacked up.
• Brand new Community page. Bringing old fans and new fans closer to the game they love.

It’s the quiet before the storm, but in the meanwhile, you can enjoy Gears of War‘s new site and dream of things to come.
