depends on how this is counted. typically people who are unemployed so long that they stop looking are no longer counted as unemployed. a rise in the unemployment rate could be from people gaining more confidence in the market and are reporting themselves as looking for work again.

but i dont really know if that applies this time...

They're usius the same metrics.

Interesting to me is that overall unemployment remained unchanged despite the jump.
