lets be real. Most people with psych degrees aren’t pursuing actual licensed therapist/psychiatrist roles.

Most of them are employed in social work fields that have strong job security, pensions/ retirement plans and benefits. Most of those jobs don’t require licenses or other certifications.

Black women, fukk it black PEOPLE period are routinely low-balled salary wise or just systemically underpaid because reasons in almost every career field imaginable.

The demand is there, but hospitals and private facilities aren't shelling out any competitive salaries for those positions unless you have a Masters and still even then the amount of debt you rack up to get it will never be worth it. Take out 90k in loans to make 45-50k? That makes it worthless financially. Only places that hire raw Psych majors are the crazy houses that pay 11.00 an hour....This ain't it chief....




If the degree doesn't make you money, it is worthless financially. It's an expensive hobby if we are keeping it real. Accounting falls under STEM, thereforen a real and tangible degree.

Mental health isn't important, people need to toughen up.

In your opinion but many people have been helped tremendously from therapy. A lot of people who think they are the strongest tend to be the ones who suffer the most. The so-called weak ones get the help they need and live a better life while the so-called strong ones think life is meant to be hard.

There’s a lotta misunderstandings in this thread. I’ll come back with some stats in a lil bit. The idea that this is happening solely because of the types of degrees blk women get is wrong and insulting.

Suffice it to say it’s white supremacy. Not Bonequesha getting a degree in women’s studies, the way some wanna imply to downplay black female accomplishments.
I thought I posted a study earlier in this thread demonstrating that but I keep seeing the same implication.

I’ll clarify the most educated stats in a lil bit too.

But systemic and structural racism are to blame for why black Women are amongst the most educated demographic in America but STILL only make 54 cents to every white male dollar EVEN in STEM fields.

One study estimated that it takes black women seven months extra months to earn as much as her counterparts have in a fraction of that time in the same field.
