Tennis star sisters Venus and Serena Williams have played tennis together forever, but they played against each other in a professional setting for the first time 17 years ago at the Australian Open in a game that was won by the elder sister. The two have played at eight Grand Slam finals, according tothe Daily Mail.
Now, they are poised to meet again on Monday at Wimbledon as Serena vies for a chance to hold all four Grand Slam titles at one time for the second time in her career, the report notes.
Serena, who was booed and jeered Friday during her dramatic win over Heather Watson, expects the crowd to root for her sister.
"I expect more people to be rooting for Venus," she said, the Mail writes. "I would be rooting for Venus. She’s been through so much. She’s had a wonderful story and been so inspiring to me. She’s just an incredible individual and been so inspiring to a lot of people."
Indeed, the report notes, Venus, 35, has comeback from illness and injury as well as fighting for equal pay at Wimbledon. Serena, 33, hopes to best Steffi Graf’s record of 22 Grand Slam wins, which she will match if she wins at Wimbledon and at the US Open.
