They posted an interview she did way back where she admitted that she likes to take over movies. And I quote, she said, "People hire me as an actress and I tell them that I'm fine with just coming in and reading my lines but, then when I get to the set, I definitely try to see how I can influence the movie. I try to direct". So yea, shortly definitely tried to strongarm the movie from dude because he was new to the industry and had no real fame/money.
