Elgin Baylor….all the biggest ball hogs were SFs. You sitting here arguing with me as if this wasnt the position where scoring and nothing but scoring was the main cog out of that position. Out here thinking George Gervin or Nique wasn’t anything more but a black hole scorer. Melo was the CLASSIC SF. Your definition of classic small forward is different than mine. A classic small forward is a player who can score, handle the ball/playmake and space the floor. Melo was just a one dimensional ball stopper. Thats why his goofy ass got bounced out the league early.

Bird, Bron and Pippen were outliers. Pierce and Durant are scorers. That position was the gunner position of the sport, point blank. Dantley, English, McGuirre, Vandeweigh, Doc, you name it were pure gunners. Melo was the classic SF.
