Scott mendelson of forbes said it best. If every movie is special. Then no movie is special.

You can only have so many event films.

And in the past 5 or 6 years they've started coming out earlier in the year and every weekend is a new one. People probably can't afford to go every weekend.

Plus its all the same franchises for the last 20-40 yrs. It's becoming worse than videogames

I don’t mind waiting the 3-5 months for a good copy to appear on the web for most films
I think this is a factor too. The theatrical to home window is so short now. 2.5 months to cop. 3 months to rent for $6.

And every post endgame blockbuster has gotten mediocre to shytty reviews- picachu aladdin godzilla dark phx MIB
