I bought a KDC-BT318U and put it in my car and the Bluetooth just doesn't sound right. I mean the line in just sounds so superior that I don't see why to even bother with Bluetooth.

Did I just cheap out and get a crappy receiver or is that just the limitations of the tech?

from what I read, that's supposedly a very good head unit (great bang for your buck).

someone had the same complaint about the bluetooth audio stream sounding "lackluster". turned out that Kenwood sets the BT audio streaming to only play through the front speakers at default. you have to go into the tuner settings and enable the "fade" and adjust the equalizer for the best sound quality.

check the manual or google the steps to find the equalizer and see if that helps.

I have BT streaming in 3 of my cars, but I don't use BT, period. I plug my MP3 player(s) into the USB port and control it from the dash controls instead. so I can't really say for a fact whether a hard line is superior to the bluetooth stream or not, even though I doubt it makes much a difference from what I've heard in friends and families cars.

Has to do with the bluetooth codec it uses too

I have a processor in my car that allows me to stream from source to it over bluetooth. Lets me stream resolution higher than CD's so the Sound Quality is much much superior to physical CD's or aux

I followed your suggestion of using USB port. For some reason the S5 doesn't work but my iPod Nano does. Even with the proper setup on the menus there's still a noticeable difference. When plugged in with the USB the remote control can change tracks and all that.

that's weird bruh, I'd expect a unit with that level of quality to perform at it's best. :dwillhuh:
