I mean sure you can make your point and i thought u put up a compelling argument so if people dont wanna accept it then they will flat out refuse to do so. I argued with someone who said the earth was flat......i just gave up after 2 minutes its not like im going to change his mind.

any real hip hop head would tell Marvin Gayes estate to gobble up a fat dikk...I dont need to tell yall why

the song was dope......it was a great pop record.......this precedent being set = MUCH more boring ass 808 drums with bloopity bleepity keyboard noises....fukk YALL

So Shock G didn't owe Stevie for flipping his That Girl for Pac's So Many Tears..

Dre didn't owe Bootsy for We Want Bootsy/Eazy??...At least they had respect for the man and his music to bring him in at the end

People in the music biz, serious question, is it a common practice for someone to sue an individual or their family if their song is an influence for the one you are making?

One of the places it started was Hammer getting sued by Rick James for jackin Superfreak aka U Can't Touch This..Rick said once he found out he would always get paid off the royalties for them using his song he wasn't mad no more... The Isley got Michael Bolton for taking their Love Is A Wonderful Thing and won because Bolton's people couldn't deny it no matter how hard they tried in court

Yeah, there's just one problem, It isn't and you have no fukking idea what you are talking about because you are a fan of music trying to be a lawyer. I know this shyt because I work with the music producers and entertainment lawyers involved in some of these situations .Method man's song SAMPLED Marvin Gaye's joint. They paid for sample clearance and a mechanical license so Mary was allowed to re-sing the chorus and all collaborators on both songs received their just credit. You are comparing a sampled track to an original composition.

I'm a music producer and classically trained pianist. It's not the same notes ON BL and it's not a sample and it's not written in the same key. It has all the similar elements (particular the percussion which used empty coca cola bottles on the Marvin Gaye song) but again, it's not the same song. You can't sue because Your song reminds me of my song when it its not a note for note reinterpretation nor contains samples of the original and that's that.
Your absolutely right. Trap producers could start suing each other left and right over use of the triple hi hat:skip:

I'm not really asking that, what I'm asking is almost the opposite. It would be like Hammer being influenced by Rick James and Hammer suing Rick first because he knows U Cant Touch this sounds similar to Rick's Super Freak.
