I don't know what the thinking of BMW is. They created the 1-series but now that has been renamed the 2- series.
But in Germany, they still have the 1-series but it's in a hatchback form, not a coupe or sedan.
BMW 1er 3-Türer : Modelle & Ausstattungen

I wonder if they are going to bring the hatchback to the US.

Europe get's the best variants cause they have the market for it.

Last and only RS6 we ever had was the C5.
Yeah, I know.
It's kind of sad, because it's not just BMW cars. Europe got the Honda Civic (8th generation) Type-R coupe, US didn't. Europe got the turbo-charged Ford Focus rally version. US didn't.

I LOVE my 135i :blessed:

It's such a niche vehicle though; that's probably why they didn't continue. People probably thought, "Why buy a 1, when I can buy a 3 for not too much more money?" Maybe like 5k give or take.. But see, for me, I already have a family sedan and I wanted something small, high performance, fun, luxury, have a backseat for my son, AND not break the bank. This car is perfect for me and I just don't know of another car like it :ahh: It's a true driver's car and I'm glad it got discontinued; it'll just make mine worth more and in the future may be sought after like E30's are today

Same difference really.. they're very different machines. The 2 is bigger and tamer than the 1. And I don't think you can say the it was a "rebranding", more like a replacing. They didn't take a 1 and throw a 2 badge on it. They just built a different car. Besides, 1er's are still in production in Europe

Hey bruh, BMW did a re-badging of the 1s, 3s and 5s.
1 coupes became 2s. In Europe, the 1 hatchback stayed as 1s but the hatchbacks aren't imported to the US.
3 coupes became the 4, 3 sedans stayed as 3s.
5 coupes became the 6 and 5 sedans stayed as 5s.

Rebadge trickery.

They did continue it, just with the 2 series.

Once my kids are able to sit in front facing seats, I want an M235i or a 997 C2S. They are GOAT cars though and way closer to the REAL 3 series than the 3s out now. The F30 is basically a discount 5 series.... it matches up with the GOAT E39 in like every dimension.

the 1er hatch was/is a beauty, I really loved seeing them in Europe.
