- Dude basically talks about how he made his money.
- mentioned the dude who invested in him to help him start BET
- seems to have a genuine interest in helping the black community. Said most of those big name companies who pledged to do more for black businesses after the George floyd incident, didn’t do sh1t. It was all talk.

Great interview.

You’re not in his shoes. At the end of that interview he did say had he held on to BET and not sell, that it would be worth less in todays world given the proliferation of streaming services.

So you can hide in your basement and bark orders about how someone ought to spend THEIR money. At the end of the day, you’re not in his shoes.

Thecoli and black twitter the same places that make comments like "people still watch BET:mjlol:". Then you got the black mega celebs who will show up to other shows. But wouldnt be caught dead at the BET awards or Soul Train awards. After a while I can understand his frustration. Just sell it to the European, not as if black culture and creativity is on the incline in this country:francis:. Once assimilation goes into overdrive BET wont even exist anymore. And iit will be marked as a sign of proggress, that we no longer need our own channel.

The man admitted his mistake but you still want to hold this over his head as if he hasn't done other things for black peope. What contributions have you made? What's your black owned business? Link it here please so we can support you

The selling of BET contributed to the destruction of our cultural arts but was important in showing how not keeping ethic based outlets in house can influence and degrade the way we interact and think of each other. You think the national hispanic media coalition would hold back criticism if Telemundo was sold, the qualities of art plummet and, the network begins to glorify and promotes division, false classism and corniness. Because one man wanted to play the market? Nah, but its funny.

I might’ve done the same. It was good business. But it’s strange how everyone in the world has different types of programming to appeal to multiple sub groups, personality types and age groups. And stick to more positive displays than negative. We all know of black people that are producing and creating groundbreaking work. But new BET says FNF is better than whatever Syd the Kid is doing which, when compared is a strange and irresponsible choice to push to the public. BET doesnt do premiers, regional showcases, concerts, documentaries, news, or black produced kid shows like Little Bill, just reruns and child lock edits of classics. It’s a non factor on the outside but it seems more against ”black interest “ than for it. Very c00nish network these days.

He discounted himself, his network, and the people.

I don’t know if you remember but coming home from school at 4pm 7 deep all black kids just to watch 106&Park or be inspired by College Park and talk about plans of success. Watching Rap City or Def Poetry Jam if you had it for the creativity, and connection. shyt was the epitome of innocence. Being black was openly fun and BET helped make it that. There will never be anything so geared towards the honest side of black culture.

I thank dude for creating it, but wtf he should’ve just burned it or made them take black out of it.

Brotha Byron would never:scusthov:

Nah he might:manny:

Furthermore I dont believe in or trust majority of you bytch ass nikkas, so I’m not sharing shyt wit you :feedme: lookin boy.

Go tell Aaron Mcgruder his criticism is wrong too. You wanted the BET episode pulled didn’t you?

Oh yea how many houses, apartment buildings, churches and graveyards has your family built? Which generation are you in your family business? I’m 3rd:youngsabo:

Did you take an apprenticeship from a black man:mjpls:

You ever build or remodel a black owned home with a team of 6-10 Black men?

How many times?

What’s your day job? You ever work with chemicals? How much insulin and other medications have you processed in the past few years and what’s your estimate of the black lives you saved?

I never thought about it:patrice:

I just like my job:wow:

You ain’t done jack shyt you virtue signaling bytch

And that old ass nikka still goofed with BET

Don’t talk to me about contributions I do this shyt begrudgingly:hhh:
