Boiler room thread moves too fast. I thought this might be a good thread to discuss strategy and results. What was your strategy in 2020? What kind of returns did you have? Lessons learned? Advice for the brehs? Etc.

I think it would be useful to share results and strategies so we can help each other set benchmarks.

I’ll start. For many years, All my investments were in my 401-K and company stock. Three years ago, I converted my savings and company stock to active investment. My investment strategy has been buy and hold solid companies for the long term. Due to Covid, my 2020 returns were 40% give or take. The bulk of my investments were in companies like Apple, Amazon, airlines, oil and gas, hotels and restaurants.

Mods, sticky this already classic thread.

Don't underestimate the chances of a stock blowing for purely populist reasons

More people are on the stock market than ever before in human history, social justice type pumps/falls could become a trend

The system will adjust eventually

Im not a financial advisor blah blah

I was going to say, watch for meme stocks affecting the market.

However, that shouldn't have an affected on a long-term buy and hold investment strategy.

Dollar Cost Averaging is the key.

I regularly invest in 3 funds: QQQ ETF, Schwab S&P 500 index fund and Schwab Total Stock Market index fund.

Then I have 4 stocks that I rotate investments...
