This is kind of a spinoff of my Competing with WWE thread, but what kind of company would you put together if you could have Ted Turnerish pockets and any living talents you wanted to hire?

How would you set up your company in terms of your main event and midcard? Would you have women wrestling? What titles would you have? Would you have the titles contested from the get-go or would you have inaugural champions?

:krs:What the fukk would you do?!:krs:

Book good workers that are still young like Shelton Benjamin, Ambrose Reigns & Rollins, Cesaro, Bryan, etc. etc. you know the class I'm talking about.

How would you set up your company in terms of your main event and midcard?
WCW style... jobber class for the opening matches, but let them promo and stuff to build their characters. Then mid card, then your top 8-12 guys in the upper card going for the top belt.

Would you have women wrestling?
Not initially

What titles would you have?
World Heavyweight Title- for the top guy
American Heavyweight Championship- for the next midcard guy up
TV title- jobber belt, always defended on free TV, not PPV. Gives the jobbers some status and something to promo about without disrupting the midcarders

Would you have the titles contested from the get-go or would you have inaugural champions?
It depends. Probably would heel it up and award the belts to heels NWO style to kickoff story lines.

Yeah you can tell I'm a WCW mark :yeshrug:

I'm hiring guys who can put on good matches and can entertain the crowd. Guys like Punk, Bryan, Reigns, Rollins, Ambrose, Wyatt, Langston, Neville, Brock, Styles, Cena, Orton, Angle before all the injuries, Joe when he still cared, Magnus, Jeff Hardy, Beer Money, Benjamin, NJPW wrestlers, and others, would fit the bill.

How would you set up your company in terms of your main event and midcard?
I'd have a ranking system where:

Top 5 would fight for the Heavyweight title.
6-10 would challenge for the YIO belt.
Any team could challenge for the Tag Titles.
nXt Title would be for the up and coming stars to showcase their talent.
TV title for the mid card

Would you have women wrestling?

Hmm... Ask at a later date :manny:

What titles would you have?

Heavyweight Title - Will be defended every 30 days.

You In or Out Title - 2nd title. The person who holds this title can challenge the Heavyweight champ, but once they challenge him, the title is made vacant and put up in a 8 man tourney. If they choose to hold on to it until they're ready, they have to defend it every 30 days.

Tag Title

nXt Title - Will be defended on TV every 2 weeks. This will be a way to get newer stars on the scene and show who got next in the company.

TV Title - defended every 2 weeks.

Would you have the titles contested from the get-go or would you have inaugural champions?

From jump a tourney would be held to crown each champ.

After that, I'd book it where the champs have to defend their title every 30 days and with the nXt Title, if the champ cashes it in, a tournament will be held at the next PPV for the vacant title.

In the Summer, I'd hold a King of the Ring style 16 man tournament and the winner would get bonus check and 5 of the spots would be occupied by the champs at the time.

Not as many active wrestlers as WWE, the major names but no part timers(minimum 5 straight wins to contest for a title)
re-hire good ole JR

How would you set up your company in terms of your main event and midcard?
More promos and backstage antics on TV programming. 5 Matches with decent length(no longer than 30min)
Main Event would rotate between various title holders depending on the dominating storyline(that way noone gets too bland or played out)
Midcard matches start the show, no more than 10 contenders for the title, #1 contender can challenge for the title once per month(most likely on PPV)
Tag Teams would ONLY be 2 people, stables can be bigger but tags are always 2v2..OR 2v2v2
Special Events: Cage match(must climb out of cage to win), No DQ(tables, chairs, ladders, sledgehammers etc), Ladder Match(Only for belts, special "twin" ladder match for tag titles), Rumble Style ppv
PPVs = 5 per year...4 spaced out and 1 special on Thanksgiving

Would you have women wrestling?
No, but bring back female managers and "girlfriend" angles

What titles would you have?
World Heavyweight Title
Tag Title
Middleweight Title

Would you have the titles contested from the get-go or would you have inaugural champions?
Royal Rumble Format for 1st Title
Same format every year for #1 contender
Ranking System based on Yearly wins and losses, Reset for "Rumble" at the first PPV of the year(last 10 wrestlers make up the top 10)...Rankings would include fan vote percentage(:troll: the IWC)
Belt on the line whenever WHT Holder in a match(same with all belts)...generally booked so belts only changed hands on PPV

If you could have Ted Turnerish pockets and any living talents you wanted to hire?
  1. I would have an American based program that utilized international talent. Perhaps one third of the roster would be comprised of Mexican, Canadian, and Puerto Rican nationals.
  2. I'd use managers and subtitles to get the international talent over.
  3. I also would diversify my roster with ethnic Americans to appeal to non Wasp'ish audiences.
  4. I don't know anything about the American independent circuit, so I'd rely on good old Jim Ross to help me out. Yes, indeed, I'd pay that fat White man what he wanted and show him respect.
  5. Finally, I'm a lover of the old NWA, so I'd have a Southern style feel to the shows. I'd have wrestlers/managers cut promos and I'd have old school interviews that showed that these were grown ass men with scars and calloused knuckles.

How would you set up your company in terms of your main event and midcard?
  1. I believe in feeling out the audience and getting a sense of what's hot.
  2. For example, I never would have thought that Doink the Clown would work, but making him a HEEL was brilliant. (Props to Vince.)
  3. Likewise, I'd want to invert audience expectations to draw upon their preconceptions, prejudices and insecurities. That's the essence of that old school wrestling from the 80's. (Props to Paul E and how he modernized that approach with ECW.)
  4. The Tag Team scene would be very important. I'd build up stables from the Tag scene and bully the singles wrestlers. This would help to establish rivalries and friendships which also helps with booking.

Would you have women wrestling?
  1. HELL NO
  2. However, I believe women would make excellent managers. While male audiences would be drawn to sex appeal, I would also play on "corporate", "intellectual", "metropolitan/elite" and cultural constructs to flesh out their characters.
  3. All of these constructs would work well with Black women, but others would be effective as well.
  4. Think on it: America has never seen a Latina or Filipina manager before. They'd bring personality and creativity to a stale, Anglo industry.

What titles would you have?
  1. Western Heritage title: my unique belt which was inspired by the Hart Foundation. I'd have the WH title defended internationally to showcase different styles and to distinguish my brand from others.
  2. World Tag Titles: Given the importance of stables and partnerships, the Tag Belts would help to carry my TV and house shows.
  3. World/Heavyweight Title: in the 21st century it is very difficult to have one man hold the belt for more than 3 months. So a wrestler wouldn't earn World Title status until he held it for over 6 months. My TSC champion wouldn't be the World Champ until he could prove that he coudl draw and that he could fend off contenders.

Would you have the titles contested from the get-go or would you have inaugural champions?
  1. I might handpick the WH champion because I'd want him to be more athletic.
  2. The World Champion would earn his belt after a title tournament.
  3. The Tag Titles would emerge after the company's been around for a while. I'd want to develop some storylines first.

Great thread. I love this 'ish.
