I just finished the third book of Remembrance of Earth's Past (The Three Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Deaths End) and this is definitely a series i can see being turned into a 5+ series show. It deals a lot about how first contact would be with extraterrestrials, why cant we detect other beings out there, how humans would cope with such news (think religion, denial, etc). On top of that its deals with some cool theories in science.

What are some books youve read that you feel will be on a screen sooner or later?

A while back I read a book about a dude who was wrongfully accused of being a terrorist and sent to Gitmo. I was actually thinking of writing it in the future, but I have so many other ideas I’d rather work on.

Maybe someone else can get a hold of it and try a screenplay. Don’t know if ‘Merica is ready for hard truth tho. :jbhmm:

The last two fiction books I read were Station Eleven and The Nightingale and they both have been adapted into television shows or movies. I knew reading them that they would eventually get picked up by Hollywood.

To choose another one that hasn't been done yet. The Cotton Malone series by Steve Berry. If I ran a streaming platform, I would buy all the rights to his books for a television show. They are like a combination of Dan Brown's books (The DaVinci Code, Lost Symbol, Angels & Demons) and spy films like Jason Bourne, Bond, Mission Impossible etc. Exotic locations. Government conspiracies, corruption and interesting historical events. Lots of action. There's so many books that you'd easily have enough content for 5+ seasons.

Edit:

Someone bought the rights :ohhh:

Steve Berry’s Cotton Malone Book Rights Land At Riven Rock Projects, Eyed As TV Series

This book is about Jewish comic book writers in 1939. It is a period piece with mention of famous historical figures, is about comics/super heroes and has an LGBTQ angle as well. I only found it an OK read but the story is Oscar bait for sure.

With all these streamers going in on low/high fantasy and medieval shows. I expect to hear about some kind of adaptation for The First Law series.

I'm surprised Netflix hasn’t hit up Joe Abercrombie yet.

Red Rising. It's one of my favorite series. The best way to describe it is Game of Thrones in space with some class revolt thrown in. With the proper budget, studio, pacing and acting it'll definitely be a water cooler series.

Of course there's others like The Warlord Chronicles and the Sun Eater series that deserve attention.
