Lookin to get my first car, I'm looking for a used vehicle between the 2.5k-5k price range, good gas mileage, not too many miles and looks cool. Any advice?
4th Generation 3-series (E46) with a manual transmission. I would say up the ante and add another $2500 to your upper limit and cop A 330i...it gives M3-like performance without the M3-like maintenance overhead.

The maintenance on those is horrible though. They wont leave u stranded but they will def nickel and dime u. Better to get a G35 for that money, but given the OP's budget really something like an old Nissan Sentra will be the best bet.
