In the latest findings, a team of researchers studied surgeons as they performed surgical simulations and found they could identify novice from experienced surgeons by analyzing brain scans taken as the physicians worked [The story could be paywalled]. The reason why this thread doesn't have a lot of responses is because people like to believe that they can achieve anything if they put their minds to it. In my honest opinion it's 70% nature and around 30% nurture. Your genes determine your intelligence for the most part. If your parents are dumb, tough luck :mjlol:.

I feel like you misinterpreted this research. Cognitive science has shown for a long time that experts don’t need to think about what they’re doing as much because they have so much experience that they can operate based on heuristics they’ve developed from seeing so many situations and knowing what response to apply as a response to any given situation. Instead of focusing on figuring out the problem, experts are focused on performance. Hence why in this study the novices focused on the problem and experts focused on the performance.
