Yes, racist hate speech is also punishable with prison in Brazil.

People being so up in arms against LGBT getting basic human rights are very strange.

It isn't a basic human right to have the government protect you from hurt feelings.

Imagine this.

Women who slander short men for being vertically challenged are subject to imprisonment in Minnesota.

People who use anti fat slurs in California could face time in prison.

I think we can all agree that civility and kindness is something we should all aspire for as humans. But in my opinion having it regulated by government isn't the way.

This “free speech protection” take is EXACTLY what racists always say to us to justify their racism towards us Black people.

And they used it to get rid of Affirmative Action for admissions, so that 'take' is a double-edged sword. Next, they'll use it against us when referring to them using pejoratives, aka, 'reverse racism' (an oxymoron).

Just because THEY don't view it as a 'human right' doesn't negate the simple fact that Gov't should not tell people what they can/cannot say in a 'free' society.
