Older heads, how good of an NBA player was Rose? I only vaguely remember watching him in Indiana

Originally, he was a prototypical magic height style pg.
That never translated to the point guard position in Denver.
He was in limbo as a player skillwise and in focus.
Till Indy where bird noted he had a killer who had to be trained.
Once bird showed him the matrix.
He was as good as any small forward in the league who had excellent scoring numbers in the league's history.
Think what if, the braintrust.
Of oversized state of Michigan point guards does not pan out like Steve smith.
Then, a failed magic style player gets the matrix of leadership from Larry bird.

I thought he was perceived to be just an average guy, good to know :leon: any player in the league today or in the past you would compare his game to?

Melo lite,,...
What if Melo had to ramp up.
minus the leadership and college pedigree Melo had to win a NCAA title.

On offense? I'd compare him to Lamar Odom. Left handed, crafty, versatile on offensive with a front and back to the basket game, relied on a diversified skill set and very little athleticism as both never seem to leave the their feet after a few years in the league, etc...

Lo never had a killer fuego jumper he developed from Larry bird.
Lamar Odom is what if jalen panned out as an oversized ballhandler and just stayed complacent.
It is actually an insult to say Lamar Odom and Jalen were similar.
