How do you plan for the quarter when you were facing 150% tariffs last week, you'll face 30% tariffs next week, and in 90 days you might be facing 150% again. The uncertainty is insane for businesses. And if you're a small business how do you survive?

It's going to be a long 4 years.

And I got zero faith that people learn their lesson. Short term sure, if you wreck the economy you lose the next election in most cases. So I'd expect dems to be favorites in 2028 (plus they'll dominate the 2026 midterms). But after that? I don't think people are mentally capable of understanding this isn't a back and forth thing. Last time republicans ushered in massive tariffs they lost the next five elections in a row. They were in the wilderness from 1932 until 1952, president wise - and they only won congress twice between 1932 and 1994.

That's not happening again due to how partisan voters are, but also because of how stupid voters are now. It should be clear to people that republicans are incapable of governing without dismantling government and crashing the economy. So why give them another shot?

The unfortunate thing is, we probably need more pain for shyt to change. But more pain means he gets more powerful too. And in all honesty I'm not expecting fair elections in 2026 and 2028. I fully expect and am preparing to be dealing with dude until he dies.

Trump is just a symptom. The whole system is fukked and there are 2 very distinct sides who aren't even seeing reality the same.

Donald Trump says he’s willing to travel to China to meet Xi Jinping

WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump said he would be willing to travel to China to speak with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping about foreign policy and economic issues.

“I would certainly,” Mr Trump said when asked if he wanted to visit Mr Xi on a foreign trip during an interview with Fox News that aired on May 16, adding that the relationship between China and the US was “important”.

Mr Trump has repeatedly expressed an eagerness to speak with the Chinese leader. Earlier in the week, he predicted the two might talk by phone after their deputies negotiated a temporary truce in the trade war that was sparked by Mr Trump imposing dramatic tariffs on Chinese goods.

Under that 90-day agreement, the US reduced levies on Chinese imports from 145 per cent to 30 per cent, while Chinese duties on US goods fell to 10 per cent.

Despite signalling an eagerness to reach out to the Chinese leader, Mr Trump portrayed his just-completed visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as designed to keep the countries outside of Beijing’s sphere of influence.

“They were going to China, and that was going to be their parent, and that’s not happening,” he said of the three Arab states. He added that the trio were “very important to keep in our fold”. BLOOMBERG
