Like it or not, Trump is the most popular person Republicans have supported since Reagan. They love him because they see themselves in him. He could run again and very likely win if Biden and company aren't able to push through some extremely good legislation that starts helping people right now.

If he arranged for more stimulus checks or went ahead with loan forgiveness or subsidies for farmers, and low income workers the democrats could sneak through because they will have actual policies that are popular and people are benefitting from. Its like how Republicans couldn't kill the affordable care act because they had nothing better to take its place.

Modern Republicans are extremely weak on policy so all they have is moral panics. Hey don't ask about why wages haven't gone up but inflation has, aren't you outraged at critical race theory?

Why are you asking about paid time off and child care, aren't you concerned about transgender people trying to use the bathroom?

Why are you asking about voting day being a federal holiday? Isn't it crazy how liberals want you to say 'happy holidays' instead of merry Christmas?

They have NOTHING to offer people that will actually improve their material conditions and democrats just want to keep the status quo instead of making radical changes that poll high consistently like nationwide decriminalization of cannabis or election days as public holidays
