But let you tell it, I'm one of the few people running around out here associating identity politics to the democratic party.
I kinda associate "identity politics" to people in general, breh. :mjlolhairfade:

People of all political persuasions do it.

I'm not even saying it's particularly negative.

It's just disingenuous for one side [conservatives] to act like they're not engaging in it.

Are you done? :mbaku:

If you’re going off of your own personal definition of the term then say that from the jump

But I clearly presented evidence that there is indeed an argument out there that democrats need to distance themselves from identity politics - from other democrats..

But the fact that we’re arguing over a term is indicative of the problems dems are having across the board - get on one page if you’re going to have a chance in 2020 :francis:

I wasn't, actually.

Just for you, I Googled "identity politics" and looked at the Wikipedia definition:

Identity politics refers to political positions based on the interests and perspectives of social groups with which people identify. Identity politics includes the ways in which people's politics are shaped by aspects of their identity through loosely correlated social organizations. Examples include social organizations based on age, religion, social class or caste, culture, dialect, disability, education, ethnicity, language, nationality, sex, gender identity, generation, occupation, profession, race, political party affiliation, sexual orientation, settlement, urban and rural habitation, and veteran status.

That's pretty much what I had in mind when I made my statement. I added that I think that everyone participates in identity politics, since I believe most everyone votes based on who/what they identify with.

I'm curious as to what definition you were using. :bppatrice:

However, I digress. Personally, I think arguing about "identity politics"--whether from a liberal or conservative standpoint--is meaningless banter.

It assumes that it's possible not to engage in identity politics. I really don't think it is. I think what people really are upset about are whether certain types of sociopolitical groups are worth consideration. :kanyebp:

:patrice: Not really sure why you felt the need to post the actual definition of what the term means

Identity politics simply means the politics that solely focus on how you identify yourself in society and only voting based on those interests

meaning that a transgender person only votes for a candidate or policies that support their transgender-ism and nothing else.

that's cool and all, but if you have the lgbt, african american, and latino voters all wanting different things and voting SOLELY on their interests

this can create problems in the long run...just stick to broader issues that benefit all of us, especially if we're among the working class/poor. right?

Dude is a pure retard breh. :mjlol: Don't waste your time.

why haven't you thrown me on ignore yet fam? you'd rather stalk somebody on a forum and do this here all the time? :jbhmm:

and people are allowed to openly stalk on here though? serious question @FAH1223 @tru_m.a.c
