From my experience in college, these are the professors who are actually the worst teachers. They teach because they have to teach as part of their contracts but they really just want to do research. The more grants they have, The more they despise their own students.
From what I recall the TAs ended up doing most of the class for them. They were even stingy with office hours and have the nerve to have grad students do the office hours
I can't speak for the business school, which holds economics; but in courses like physics, or chemistry, or circuits it must have felt like a waste of time to be teaching basic stuff like what an electron is; when these guys were working on complex stuff like particle accelerators during the rest of the week .
