SMH. Chris Williamson really does get the worst guys to talk about relationships.

TL/DR

Him - Adore her.

Dude - Cool, no problem.

Dude - What If I'm not feeling it right then?

Him - doesn't matter, adore her.

Dude - Does she have to admire me? Is that the rule?

Him - No, the rule is only for you, be admirable.

...........

His love for her is unconditional.
Her love for him is conditional.

He has to adore, and he has to live up to this standard of being admirable - which is not an objective standard...

But even if it was objective, there are gonna be some moments, days, weeks, months... - where a man won't even meet an objective standard.

The man is going to fail, eventually. We all fail. We all fall down. We all make mistakes, serious mistakes.

And what should he expect of his partner in those times?

Low key, this was the central issue between Issa and Lawrence on Insecure, to date myself with my pop culture references...

Good points!!

What I took from it was what we kinda know…

Women need attention, need to feel attractive to their spouse/partner.
Men need to feel respected.

What he failed to say is what women can do to increase/maintain what makes us attractive to our men. And of course that goes beyond looks.

I pay attention to one of my aunts. She just turned 65 and still cleans the house from top to bottom, makes healthy meals, trains with the kettlebell, maintains a right figure…

My uncle handles all the household and car repairs, stays fit as well, etc.

They both cook, both retired and bringing a lot of money in monthly…

They fight like cats and dogs occasionally BUT they aren’t leaving and they’re holding up their ends of the bargain 🤷🏾‍♀️

He handles business during good times and bad so ultimately, she has a reason to respect him.

She’s keeping her body together and maintaining the home, good times or bad. Those are attractive actions. Not just because of looks or because he has a full belly and clean home; it’s attractive because it shows her ability to be consistent and disciplined.

Both parties have to continue to try.

I might get negged but I think it should be free :hubie: everyone has a preference I'm getting tired of people getting sensitive about other people preference both men and women especially in our community most black women like tall niqqas and most black men like slim to thick light skin women it is what it is :yeshrug: people should find ways to stand out instead of crying about not being some one preference :manny:
The problem is not having a preference, it's that men are vilified for having them.
