Seems like every other game that comes out or trailer that drops is BOTW influenced in some ways

Genshin Impact...The Pathless...Solar Ash...Immortal Phoenix Rising....that Rare game that's coming out

Plus more subtle influences can be found in recent Assassins Creed games, and the general trends in open world design

It reminds me of the last decade Dark Soul's influence being felt heavily

Once again the industry following GOATendo's lead :wow:

I still low key think R* “borrowed” some shyt from them for RDR2 but nikkas don’t be feeling me when I bring that up

I’m pretty sure they’re on record saying they did. BOTW2 ironically is being inspired by RDR2 now.

That’s the beauty of gaming, these developers/designers are fans of each other and usually aren’t afraid to say another game influenced their design process.

I think Outside of BoTW, Souls games have had the most influence on gaming in the 2010’s. I don’t think BoTW would be what it is without dark souls

But, didnt BOTW follow other trends itself?

Of course. Name met the last game that didn't evolve for something else.

But BOTW clearly took a well known formula and did very creative things with it. There's no new genres. It's about what you do with them that matters now.

You can't tell me those games I named would exist in the form they do without BOTW.

Breath of The Wild still managed to do the one thing most of f these open world games can’t seem to figure out. How to make actual exploration fun.

Riding on a horse, mount, whatever from town to town is so fukking played out and boring. Being able to climb everything and glide in BoTW the best open world game ever.

Thing about BOTW is now people have finally clammed up about OOT being the gold standard Zelda game.

People always wanna fight me over OoT, cause I really don’t think it is. I was there for it, the only console I had was N64. I remember the last 8 month or so delay like it was yesterday.

Once i reached the water temple my enthusiasm for that game hit rock bottom. I think i put it down for like 3 months.

The thing is though, is that there will always been 2 (maybe 3) different zelda fans. The old guard who wants their zeldas to remain dungeon crawlers where you get a new weapon every dungeon and use it to unlock new paths.

And now there’s the BoTW zelda fans that are cool with zelda going in a completely new direction and adopting more western game design.

The third is people who don’t give a shyt about zelda if it’s not top down adventure

Why so emotions:picard: it true you never play the far cry games and assassin's creed games In botw it even the bit were you had Climbing to the top of each region's tower and activating the Sheikah podium will unlock a portion of the Hyrule Map that just like in ubisoft open world games:hubie:

Botw didn’t highly influence open world since its release?
No. Y’all just musta not been playing anything else.

Only thing kinda new in botw is the stamina meter being used for climbing.

Since botw there’s been all types of “open world” games that play nothing like it.

Genshin impact and Fenyx rising are clones. Other than that as usual all games borrow from each other.

To be honest. Compared to other Zelda games botw is kinda shallow.

In the past, your traversal and progress was locked behind you learning new moves and gaining new items. In BOTW the entire games progress is based on upgrading your stamina meter.

I enjoyed the game, but past Zelda games were better :manny:
