This isn’t anything new. NFL and NBA guys who show up at a camp charge a fee, even if the camp is free for kids. Whoever is bringing them there has to pay them a fee to have them show up for 30 mins (if you’re lucky), catch a few balls and leave.

If they throw their own camp, it’s up to them if they want to charge for it or not. Some of the price points are insane (I’ve seen 2-day camps “featuring” a pro player cost $700+), but if people pay it then :yeshrug:

I will say running a camp isn’t cheap, so while the $5k from the NFL and possible another $10k from their team to match is helpful, they still have costs.

Even by his own example, if someone brings home $300k net, should they be expected spend $25k of it on a camp with no return? That’s a bit much to ask.

Do I think rich athletes should donate their time? Of course. However, time is money. Don’t like it, then don’t pay to go.

TO PAY FOR THESE FREE CAMPS
WHICH IS ONE OF THE CONDITIONS
TO QUALIFY FOR THE PAYTON AWARD.

HE LITERALLY SAID THE PLAYERS

All my dudes that ever ran camps never made 1 kid pay

All my young boys that hold camps today never make kids pay. I’ve personally never seen this happen in 22 years of being around the game

Yes the NFL pays for these camps and gives stipends, and players use that bread on dinners for their teammates they fly out there, flights and taking everyone to the club at night (and the camp)

Also my brother won NFL Man of Year and he def didn’t win it for hosting a free camp, he did some crazy dope community stuff…

Maybe I’m misunderstanding

Because it’s not zero expenses. If you watched the video, he said the NFL gives $5k and the team will match up to $10k which means you have to spend your own money to get it reimbursed.

$5k for a football camp is nothing when you count the cost to rent a field, insurance, gear, staff and other costs. The dude in the video also said they get sponsorships from Nike and EA sports, which damn sure isn’t true if you’re some JAG player in the NFL.

The dude in the video is pocket watching and also trying to snitch at the same time. NFL players do free events throughout the year which is how the qualify for the award.

He needs to name the players....otherwise he's just bullshyttin'
He named one Justice Hill, also named Saquon Barkley but just very quickly.

Edit: And Barkley charge these kids 250 for two days (seems like you gotta get your own hotel, food etc.)
Got NFL, Citigroup, Adidas and shyt sponsoring but still wanna act like it's some type of charity :mjlol:

Here he is with his partners :mjpls:

I’d like to see him name an example and what’s his definition of elite. I don’t see any flyers for paid camps for guys like Mahomes or Lamar Jackson.

If an example he is trying to use is something like this for Justin Jefferson:

It doesn’t apply because it’s not NFL Play 60 or NFL branded at all. The dude in the video will have to come with receipts or he’s just looking like a hater.

If those camps aren’t branded as NFL camps, then they don’t apply here.

There’s nothing here that says this camp is NFL Play 60 sponsored. Or NFL sponsored at all.

If he has an example of what he’s saying, and there’s verbiage that they’re supposed to be free for everyone (not just underprivileged youth), then he would have a point.

I’m not saying he’s wrong; all these guys take money anyway they can. But he needs receipts.

So I guess if they do charge, then NFL doesn't pay.
So then there's really no beef other than some players opting to not utilize NFLs community outreach program instead of going the fully capitalist route :yeshrug:

Unless the goal is to network, paying for these camps is pointless
