Believe it or not, he is right . I didn't believe it myself either, until the second year of my engineering classes .
While I was busy negotiating loans with Sallie Mae, the dude next to me in our electrical curcuitry class revealed that he was studying in america because the saudi government had financed his trip here , Paid for his boarding and his food while he was in america, And they had already secured a job for him As an electrical engineer in the oil fields once he returned. I was so dumbfounded at what he had just told me that I began to ask him more questions about his country.
He then revealed to me that they actually have universal health care there. And the government subsidizes the cost of pretty much everything from groceries to fuel, So the cost of Living could be twenty pertent of living in america, But they earn salaries comparable to our salary. This was incredible to me at the time cause I thought it was a barbaric place where folks still cut off hands and stone each other, while living in desert huts. The Saudi dude then noticed my shock and decided to rub salt in my wounds and said that despite being 19 , he already had 2 wives secured for himself at home once he gets back
So my takeaway from that convo was that Most dudes would be objectively happier there. The only caveat is you can't be a woman or your life sucks. Furthermore, you can't be politically active or your life sucks.
Me personally, I am a male and I couldn't give a damn who is in charge as long as I'm living well; so I couldn't help but agree with the Saudi student in our class. Heck, I even considered switching from my compEng degree to an electric electricEng degree if he could hook me up with one of those oil gigs
