I almost bought a EV. But after my research I stuck with my ICE Mercedes. I may pick up a cheap EV at some point, but I won't spend for it. I love ICE engine too much. Its either a GT 63 AMG or a Aston Martin next. After we get some remodeling done in the house the wife said I could get whatever I wanted.

I did drive a tesla once and after the gimmick factor I was a bit underwhelmed. It was a rental on a business trip and sitting at a charger at midnight was a pain in the ass.

BYD's won't make it to the US becaues China subsidizes them and can make them cheaper than other US made cars it would kill the US automarket. They won't give China that much power. Its the right move unfortunately.

Americas don't buy Chinese cars because they're fukking pieces of shyt. Your life is on the line when you're driving a vehicle and I wouldn't trust a Chinese car to protect me. The airbags or brakes could fail, the engine could catch fire while I'm driving, fukk that.

The only reason I'm alive after my recent crash is because the car I was in protected me.

We should all be looking out for the BYD of the Semiconductor and Chips Industry coming out of China. That stock is going to soar. It’ll probably show itself before 2030.

That would be Huawei which you aren't allowed to buy shares in :russ:

Your next best bet is to invest in a chinese tech fund like TCHI or invest directly in a firm like Xiaomi. China is going to double/triple down on technology. If you've got american tech stocks, you'll benefit and if you've got chinese tech stocks you'll benefit. If you've got stocks in BOTH? you have a backup plan if for some reason banks start divesting from american tech and stops helping venture capital.

Keeping your ice engine is a good idea...:ld: I keep telling folks here alot of places dont have the infrastructure. and alot of states are penalizing you for even buying them. I heard they will literally tax ev owners for every mile you drive...:wtf: that's some wild shyt..

AI Overview

Some U.S. states are experimenting with "mile per drive" taxes for electric vehicle (EV) owners, often called pay-per-mile or road usage charges, to compensate for lost gas tax revenue and fund road maintenance. These systems are typically implemented as voluntary programs or pilots, like in Oregon and Washington, and involve tracking mileage to charge EV owners a fee per mile driven, though widespread adoption is complicated by cost and privacy concerns.
