Well his worst move was approaching the situation while being out numbered. If you don't have some type of weapon on you, just fall back unless you're forced to defend yourself. My wife in my eyes fine as the fukk, so I don't live in a imaginary world and think I'm the only one who thinks she fine. Majority of the time when we out and I see men staring or saying things like "damn", "lawd she nice", she "bad" etc etc. I respond with "shyt who you telling" , "now you see why I'm married" , or something to that nature. As long as they don't touch her or trying to disrespectfully press her. It's all good to me because I use that moment to make her feel even more appreciated.
