How can a large city like Dallas or Houston be considered "country"?:what:

You want to see country, take a drive up 69n to East Texas. Visit Tyler and those lil small towns if you want to see country. Dallas and Houston are metro cities just like any other top 10 city.

Shoot New York people think Philly people are country

I'm from Cali but I've lived in the south almost a decade now. My biggest annoyance is the culture. It's like the rest of the country is 50 years ahead of the south. A lot of people do well (college, career focused, travel, etc) but many cap out at a job paying $15 with benefits. Family and community is valued down here more than individuality and autonomy. The subtle racism gets old, the close mindedness gets old, the "city slickers" comments get old, etc.

The cost of living keeps me. But the segregation is still very prevalent but most don't know anything else. I grew up in a completely different culture so I struggled to settle into this one. It's like taking a trip back in time.

Which state are you in?

I've lived in Tennesse for a year as a youngin and even just recently went to myrtle beach and Houston.

I think it just depends on the city/town. I honestly think that southerners are a tad bit behind with the rest of society. Like, when people in philly/NYC rocked Air Force ones and tall tees heavy and then the trend stopped. Down south folks were still doing it. But then again, that varies according to personal style. The accents are cool. I wouldn't mind marrying a good ol southern boy :lolbron:
