Soooooh

Not too long ago I made a thread on hating my job etc etc...

I was advised to begin planning my escape and side hustles. A colleague of mine at the investment bank i work at has advised I join in a mini side gig. His dad is a real estate developer and wants us to help him with some properties and overseeing the work on it. It'll make a good income for me and I'll use the income i make to save up for a bigger project (I have an idea in mind).

We both work monday - friday at our corporate jobs and want to do this on saturdays. Obviously we will be helping with the renovation of houses and guiding the construction people so very hands on...and will be hard work

So that would essentially mean I'm working Monday to Saturday with only Sundays off...but I doubt I'll lounge in on Sundays since I'll probably go out with family and stuff.

Can anyone who has worked 6 days a week before offer me any health/life tips on not getting too tired etc etc

Wait a minute.... is that u in ur avi :lupe:

I have been working Saturdays for a minute. I hate it. Don't do it. U are going to be wiped the fukk out all week, because u won't be able to relax on Sunday with all the catching up on errands and shyt u need to do. I have been doing this since June and it sucks. Im due to make a clean 5 figure check from the work I'm doing on the side, and I'm still quitting. I do have to work after work on weekdays too though, which might be the real issue.

Had an office gig, and a cnc gig at a factory, right after i came out of college and I used to work 7 days a week. Worked full time while I studied full time also when I was in school.

Whenever i got tired I just told myself the same phrase: "You gon' quit and go home like a bytch, or stick it out and get this money like a man?"

That always worked for me. I never wanted to feel that shame of knowing I could beat another week, but I wasnt up for it.

Find something that motivates you and use it.

For me, it was having that extra money, constantly being active, and doing something I felt was difficult.

yeah I know, you had you guys pic up on there recently. nah never worked six days. They kill me the days I work already. But it's retail so any day can be torture. Might have to look into taking more vitamins. Long as you not overdosing energy drinks. Do more harm than good.

At the beginning of mean streets
Drink lots of water, balanced diet, lots of rest and motivation (esp from your fiancee) cause there will be moments where you're frustrated and you feel alone you'll need a lot of support from her. Keep yourself active, work out if you already don't do that. Just always keep that goal in mind for determination. If you stick it out, it'll be worth it in the end.

Congrats, she is beautiful :myman:

I am a naturally active person... I go to the gym 6x/wk, and I am involved with a few engineering societies (though TBF Ive been slacking since I started work). Very social as well.

On average I do 10-20 hours extra a week. The money is not bad, I am probably averaging $50 per hour depending on the project. I have 2 clients. One is not bad but doesn't throw me much work... maybe 10 hours a month. The other is a PITA and the one I'm not working with anymore next year. Sucks as he throws me a good 40-50 hours a month easy, but he is disorganized and neurotic. When it's cruch time I come home and work for another 3-4 hours afte work, and then another 8-10 hours over the weekend. shyt's taking a toll. U don't know the value of free time until u have it... being able to have a set schedule with ample free time to spend with my wife and do what I want a few hours a day is very underrated.

I would definitely seriously think about how this extra gig will affect your quality of life. It sounds like it's just Saturdays so it won't be as bad as mine. Still though, Saturdays are nice days. Think it over.

Depends on the jobs. I worked 7 days a week a for awhile and it didnt bother me BUT there wasnt much about the jobs I disliked

The perks were job#2 wasnt hourly based pay though and neither was my side hustle (job#3) so I didnt need much inspiration to work since I knew I was getting paid accordingly by working smart/hard and not by time spent

I got to choose whenever I worked job#2 and job#3 so it didnt seem that bad to me plus I had financial goals I wanted to meet so that was all the motivation I needed once I seen how it was paying off.

gym 6 times a week ?! lol I'll go only 3 times a week. Your side hustle sounds good though :ehh: why don't you downsize instead of chucking it in the bushes full stop ? :ld: I don't think you should breh... you can put that extra income in some funds for your future and seed :ehh:

I'm gonna do just saturdays to start if it gets too much for me ill reconsider.

Your story is inspiring tho :ehh:
