Y'all out there running around...calling EVERY rapper who got a buzz, an industry plant.

Kriss Kross was an industry plant... two nikkas JD found in the mall, and made into rappers cause they looked like they could rap.

it's like you nikkas swearing ALL these dudes are on some WWE shyt, starting off as Flex Kavana, then coming back as The Rock.

by now "industry plant" applies to all rappers you dont listen to, that you just started to notice once they started to buzz.

industry plant = artist already signed to a major whom the major pushes that artist highlighting them as unsigned.

it's like cats don't know the difference between dudes who worked their way up (musically, lyrically) to the point they're at right now...and dudes who literally been around for years, then coming out as a "new artist on the scene"

the "industry plant" is real.. but it's being thrown around for ANY rapper who's become popular and you paid no attention to, got popular, and now you notice everything they're on.

if i put out a mixtape, promoted myself via a social networking site trying to get people to listen to my shyt..posted my music on forums, but got little feedback.saved up some money, dropped $500 to get on worldstar and then had a large influx of people taking notice.... i'd be an industry plant

dont forget the blogs bro, labels pay the blogs to big up their artist

Not all blogs and honestly I dont think any, its just that they have high caliber PR pushing them therefore the chances of the blogs posting the artist is high because the songs come from such credible sources.

I think an industry plant could be someone that no ones heard of than all of a sudden EVERYBODY on the net knows about em out of nowhere. Someones paying for the videos to get played on MTV and someone is lining blogs pockets for the hype.

bout time someone said it. Like Chief Keef is an industry plant. I never heard of him till he made them videos on them AKs. K-Dot is someone that grinded for years and finally got the shot that he deserves.

Nah chief keef is not an industry plant. His buzz is (well was) organic and he already had a fanbase in chicago (especially among kids in the South Side and the burbs).

But if it wasn't for that kid on worldstar or the Kanye remix he would still be shooting low budget videos in his grandma's crib.
