I hear they offer trial or sample memberships, like a one time only thing. I found out cause I asked at checkout, what if I buy a Sam club gift card for someone who turns out to be a non-member. Cashier said they give trial pass or something to that effect.

Like one poster said. They don't check when you walk in, its when you go to the register to pay for the items you wanna purchase. They did this the last time i went in.
