No.. Was BET even around playing music in the 80s? magazines man. minimal tv exposure. Soul Train maybe. weekend rap hours on the radio.
:dahell:

What the hell? Of course

They were playing music videos before MTV existed.

And they were playing Hip Hop videos and LL was definitely in that mix. I didn't get cable till 89 and when we did "I'm That Type Of Guy" and "Going Back To Cali" was in rotation on BET.

Your welcome Bruh. This show was in Rochester NY. in 1986....it was RUN DMC's 1st major coliseum tour for Raising Hell which was blasting everywhere that summer...and LL was 1 of the openers on that tour. Sidebar.....RUN DMC was the 1st rap group to do tours headlining in major coliseums...paving the way for today's rap groups to do shows in major coliseums...auditoriums etc. ...prior to that rap groups only performed in small clubs or skating rinks here. I saw that myself because all rap groups before 1985 came to skating rinks here to perform.

@UNCLE JAM the most coincidental thing happened.

1. You mentioned in your reply to me that it was the Raising Hell tour you went to.

2. This morning on my way to work - Listening to Gucci Mane's biography in chapter two - he mentions his brother taking him to see Run Dmc's raising Hell tour with LL, Beasties and Houdini!

Also on his wikipedia

"His older half-brother Victor introduced Davis to hip hop when Davis was six years old by bringing Davis to a Run-DMC, Beastie Boys and LL Cool J concert."

I ain’t gonna lie

I never took him seriously in the 90s, because I didn’t think he was writing his shyt.

Hmm.

Never heard he had ghostwriters.

I always liked LL up to the Phenomenon video.

Just the type of music, sped up film and fashion in it.

But he does rap great in it.

He bounced back from that in my mind.

I hate hearing about Ghostwriters. When I heard that Ghostface and Odb had them it disappointed me.

I buy into an artist's soul - the whole package of what an artist is. I trust their words come from only them.

If we’re keeping it a buck… it’s because he was tall, he was handsome, he was light skinned’t, his trapezius muscles rippled through his shirt and all the honeys loved him back then, including these oldheads’ girlfriends at the time:manny:
