Not gonna happen without like $2k. Get a desktop and pray for good optimization in the future. Next gen games aren't fairing well on pcs right now (look at watch dogs and dead rising 3).

Lazy developers mean you gotta have a graphics card 2x as powerful as the equivalent one on a ps4 or x1. It's not cost efficient at all on a laptop.

You'll need an 870m or 880m. Ask @Crakface His shyt runs some next gen games at 30-40fps at ultra. I think he has a 870m. He spent $1800 I think

alright do you think that 2k could hold me down for gaming for the next 6-8 years and what desktop do you recommend?

It will definitely not hold you down for more than 2 years. No computer will really, unless you go all out.

As for desktops, I say build your own. If you're not into that, buy an alienware with a nvidia 780 in it.

You can build shyt that plays on Ultra settings 1080p for $500 dollars.

Honestly, you're better off just getting a ps4 and waiting a year on a computer. New chipsets and ram just came out, and they're real expensive. Things will be cheaper next year and then you can also get the new gpus, which'll probably be 4gb

It's just not a good time right now to build something from scratch. You'll have old stuff if you wanna stay in a reasonable price range. You'll be obsolete before you know it.

Just wait it out a year if you can.

Sorry pc brehs, but it's the truth right now. :manny:

Not true right now. Next gen games are still a problem that haven't been completely solved on the pc yet (except bf4).

Watch dogs and dead rising show this.

He likely needs a 4gb GPU in the future if he wants to keep up. I still say wait for the 800 series

Its crazy how fast tech moves and price decreases you can buy a y50 laptop now that runs games better then a ps4 and xbox 1, for 1k on newegg. 16gb ram, 8gb ssd 1tb HD with a 860m great value. for about 1,400 you can get a Sager with a 970m in it and that thing is a power house.

that's not true... Tech is advancing to the point laptops are being in line in both power and price of their desktop counter parts. the only draw back is battery life.
And it's not bang for your buck cost effective. You'll pay a high premium to get a laptop that matches a PS4. Gaming laptops are just not a great idea. Desktop components preform better and are easier to cool and will likely be longer lived because of that.
