There was a single called New York Rain or something like that. Apparently he was performing at a lounge in a non-linear manner that you don't see often. He was sampling on the spot and programming drums on a beat machine. Adding keys and making a song live before his audience when a rookie A&R girl took notice and she said they needed to sign him. Don't think she knew anything about him though. They had him on psychiatric medication and treatment . . so it didn't seem like the normal situation
