i think it has to do with the fact that all international trade is dealt in US dollars as a result of the dollar being the wold reserve currency and therefore Cuba doesnt have any US dollar reserves to use in international trade as a reuslt of the embargo. Okay, the US doesn't trade with Cuba, but that doesn't mean that other countries don't trade with Cuba.

I've had friends who have visited Cuba and said it was just like living here.... you have have money, you lived a suburban life....If you were poor.... you lived in dire conditions
