By and large I feel that the hog economy is a scam and complete waste of time for black people especially.

Seems to me black people do this endeavor because it feels like freedom, not having to go to the office, no set times, can smoke weed, wear pajamas etc.

It’s a waste of time energy and resources. You aren’t making any real money if that’s your full time job. You don’t have any benefits. You have to pay taxes on that $500 you earned that week.

I understand it completely for college students, stay at home moms, part time work etc. full time gig for a grown ass person is failure.

We as a people can’t afford to be sidetracked by trickery. They say most gig workers actually make $7-$15 hr after expenses.

Get a square job with benefits and gig work on the side as your extra income.

I don't think the gig economy is a waste of time. However, it shouldn't be the sole source of income. Overall, there are multiple issues. Jobs are not readily available today as in the past. I remember in the 90s all you had to do was pick up a Sunday's newspaper for job listing and probably had one within a week or two of applying. Now you can have a degree and literally spend months trying to find a job. Also, the gig economy is a reflection of what's to come. For a while it was temp agencies but we are moving to a job market that's going to be contract or term based in the future. :wow:

I think some people do it because they know they can't get hired at other places or act right in a normal work setting. like the mfs who clash with everybody co-workers/customers/managers and end up getting fired in a few weeks/months, I'm sure we've all seen people like that in the workplace.

but overall the gig economy is trash, I agree and not just for how the workers are paid/their benefits, but what it has done to undercut other legitimate businesses by skirting other regulations.

They were definitely targeting black people a couple years ago one of those food delivery companies put out a commercial saying the app allows you to be your own boss.

Sell a little dope and do gig work on the side as your extra income.

Fixed that for you playah, but yea I some gig work sometimes when I feel like it and I don’t see how in the hell anyone can survive off that shyt as a full time job unless you have a Prius or an EV running 15 apps all at once. It’s been times when I did doortrash and made 40 dollars in 4 hours :what: that shyt had me mad as fukk and they be wanting you to drive 10 miles for 5 dollars and shyt boy ain’t no way

Nah breh this ain’t it at all. It’s easier to get a job now than at any point in the past. It’s just that people don’t want to work the jobs that are available a lot of times.

People want flexibility. When I got into trucking, it was a weekend gig. Now, my business has grown so much that I’ve hired someone to manage it for me.

I came from being an operations manager for a supply chain. Worked my way up from being a floor lead. I was stress and tired everyday. Imagine getting up a 4a and making it home at 5p everyday including mostly Saturdays. Sometimes Sunday.

The goal is less stress, less hours, and more money. You have to deal with white people and prejudice… then battle your own people hating on you and starting rumors.

Gigs can develop into whatever you put into it and you can live life on your own terms.
