Make no mistake, all that promo for Yeezus ( or non-promotion, depending on if you want to believe the lie) cost Def Jam a shytload of money.

but ya know, having all these media outlets talking about how they know nothing about the album, and projections all across the world are things that happen for free, and don't cost the label anything

Big Sean,Pusha T,2Chainz all put up weak numbers....and had little to no promo... now Jeezy is frustrated that Def Jam won't push his shyt so he can drop an album....and Ross album supposed to drop in like 2 weeks, and has zero buzz.

Those minimalist video's from all these Def Jam artists recently, aren't cause they're trendy... it's cause they don't have the money from labels to shoot big videos

i guess 50 Cent wasn't lying when he said Def Jam was broke a few years back

Def Jam been trash since they refused to release albums from redman, the roots, and ghostface back in 06. The Roots had critical acclaim for their album (game theory) and that shyt got ZERO promo when the finally did release. Hip Hop gets no love on island def jam since all the main executives left (cohen, reid and them nikkas)

that withstanding.... this is more about the amount of promo rappers on the label got because of how bad Yeezus backfired.

How is it, that Yeezus bombs commercially.... and the next 3 releases sell very poorly ( Tyga sold 11k less than 2chainz first week, fukking Tyga)...and now you have two 2nd tier rappers who do sell pretty well... one is complaining how the label aint trying to push his shyt, and the other has no buzz for an album getting ready to drop in a bit over 2 weeks.

Def Jam aint in the business of relevancy, they can't just let all these rappers flop/undersell/ or get no push and then sit back like "We got Kanye Tho "
