The Intro, Go, The Corner, They Say, Faithful, Love Is, It's Your World, The Food, Real People.. the beats, the lyrics, the SOUND of that album makes it a classic in my book. It was positive, uplifting, real, DOPE. Didn't Kanye even model one of his albums after it to make sure his own shyt was up to par?
Come off it breh, a classic album is something that captures the essence of the time that it was released. It's genre defining and genre shifting at the exact same time. It's something that blows you away at every listen and is timeless. The Chronic is a classic, Illmatic is a classic, Doggystyle is a classic, College Dropout is a classic.
But before we even get into this I'm gonna stop you right there because for us to sit here and discuss something as subjective as music being a classic is to delve deeper into the feeling that the music gives you when you listen to it. The memories you have of playing it, the feeling that resonates with you when playing it, the people it reminds you of, the people who you've lost
etc. etc. YOUR CLASSICS AREN'T MY CLASSICS. But that's fine as long as you agree that the music is dope.
