Brehs on Child Support....I have a question.

Just finished a conversation with my guy from grade school. Long story short his bm put him on child support and his most recent check after it was garnished was.....$27! No man can live off that.

My question is...how much do yall have to pay a month and how do yall make ends meet with the gov't shaking your pockets like that every month?

they're not, i know maryland at least theres a limit on garnishments. can't remember the percentage off hand

i pay a grip but its not so much that i can't manage

They calculate how much cs to be paid by how much income he has coming in. They dont garnish wages til u get really behind on payments. If hes not making alot he needs to petition the court for an adjustment. Edit...sometimes they do garnish w/o being behind.

Yeah homie needs a lawyer. My cousin was making guap when he was married but got divorced and lost his job all in a short period of time.

CS was based on his old job while duke was stuck working retail.

Then he got behind so they suspended his license.

I bet he was happy as a fly on shyt. My boys daddy has always been active emotionally, physically and financially. he bought errythang they needed. They never went without, they are spoiled. But when we got divorced and the judge ordered cs, he just wouldnt comply. and since he took care of they needs i didnt bother with cs. He was doing more on his own than what they ordered him to pay. Our boys are grown now, so I just split it between the 3 of them. Im just shocked after alllllll these yrs he finally decided to get a legal job.

My bm said the CS was "mandatory" and I wanna believe her cuz we were still on decent terms but does the mother have the authority to legally remove it?

I think cs is only mandatory if the child is getting medicaid or the mother is receiving tanf. They would rather u get cs but if for whatever reason u dont recieve the cs, theyll give u tanf til u do start receiving the cs. Also in tx divorce cases its mandatory. as long as shes not receiving any benefits and can prove to the court she dont need it, she prolly can. But if the state put u on cs, I think ur screwed.
