Just curious for brehs who are married or were married do you have joint bank accounts? Do you dicuss with eachother before withdrawing from the bank or making major purchases?

Yeah we have a joint account for all bills and purchases that involve both of us.

We both got individual accounts for tricking off on personal purchases. Clothes, food etc

Yes we have a joint account but also our individual accounts from before marriage.

We have a single joint savings account but we each have our own checking/savings separately.

Basically just listed off the bills and then decided who would pay each bill.

We had one account in the beginning, that didn't work. Now we have a joint account for the bills and separate accounts for whatever else.

Joint decision. From day 1 when we moved in together we decided to put everything in one pot. All our income goes in there and Rent and mortgage, student loans, cars, groceries etc get paid from there. We also pull our monthly allowances

As evidenced in this thread there are multiple ways to do it. I know a lot of couples have the one spouse who’s bad with bread or dishonest so they pay bills from their separate accounts. But my wife and I like our current system.

There’s never the “I don’t have enough for mortgage this month” convo like those joke videos that were floating around last year
