All this time I thought this was Mariah's song but come to find out it was originally sung by Brenda K Starr song back in 88'

Mariah use to sing background vocals for her back then and it was the first song Mariah ever sang as a professional singer.

Long story short, Mariah wanted to cover the song in tribute to Brenda K. Starr because Brenda always believed in Mariah's talent, let her sing background vocals for her and even gave her demo to Tommy Mottola which then lead to her signing a record contract.
