I agree however the Hoop Collective is his podcast. Normally he has Tim bontemp and that other Dallas Tim on it

He's there to give the viewers a comprehensive view of what's going on. Injuries, trades, fans, history, overall sentiment of the game, bla bla but not so much details. Then they bring in an analyst to analyze the details .
It's pretty obvious that they do 1 journalist + 1 analyst. Similar thing commentators, play by play commentator/announcer + expert.

I actually like Brian Windhorst and his Hoop Collective podcast, and I like that he let Shumpert talk and explain his intelligent thoughts without cutting him off, and was agreeable to him
But at the same time, you see the difference in talking Analytics and actually being a student of the game and understanding it on a deeper level. Alot of times NBA Analytics are used as a smokescreen so everyone can feel like they are on an even playing field intellectually

As an entertainment product it makes sense. Most people won't know or care about the intricacies of basketball etc, they've been trained not to. It's nice to have deeper analysis available too.
