Power is in my hair nikka
What yall ignoring is that he only needs 10% of his current customer base, to make $12 million more than he would of got with the $60 million through Fox.. 10% of return of investment on something rising in popularity is not really that insane to ask for.. what if its a hit and he lands 20%? 30%? then that $60 million deal looks like nothing.. The article states the worst he could is $42 million a year, I dont see a loss here. Its pretty much $42 million revenue at worst if he goes with the streaming and its a bust, $60 million if he takes the guaranteed fox deal, or $72 million if he lands only 10% of his current customer base but if he captures 20% then its $120 million in revenue a year, double the $60 million offer
yall acting like he needs 80% to break even with the offer.. 10% is not too outlandish for LA. Hes gambling on himself and his product, and so far its worked out pretty well for him considering its made him one of the richest people on earth, but ill let yall tell someone worth $20 billion how to spend their money
edit: ill give you an example;
if you worked a sales job and you been hitting your quota of $5 million a year but you get paid a base salary of $60k a year
and they offer you in exchange for a base salary, we'll make your job 100% commission based and the agreement for the commission is if you hit 10% of the $5 million you already been hitting, we'll give you $72k for the year.
If you are a sales person, if you have any faith in yourself and your product/skills, you are going to take the commission based job 10 out of 10 times..
If you dont have faith in your product then of course you going to take the guaranteed money
Seems like Ballmer has faith (and the funds) to take that risk on that commission based job
The thing about this is, it's the Clippers.
They lack the following:
- a fanbase that exists outside of the greater LA area ( and even then, their current fanbase is mostly made up of people who like basketball, but hate the lakers)
- a product that actually warrants such a service.
- The prestige to sell this service to consumers.
Balmer outchea trying to sellNBA version of the Zune.
